To Alexi, Theone, M and any others posting. What happened to personal responsibility? Granted, the public needs to know about liars and cheats, but shouldn't the Better Business Bureau be made aware? Simply 'disliking' someone or the product, in my opinion, means that the buyer didn't do enough research or take personal responsibility to find out, gather information, be honest, negotiate and follow up.
It seems to me that the web creates laziness on both the buyer and the seller. Customer service has been diminished, professional and knowlegable sales people do not exist, and tangible relationships between the customer, product and seller cause these types of personal attacks. glenn on Dec 7, 2006
Thanks Srg, Don't need a hug... just think theone is funny in an annoying way.
I guess I just don't understand where the cheating comes in?
All of the dealers/stores charge one price for the public and one for the trade. The trade price is usually anywhere from 10-25% less than the public price. I deal with the stores directly as I am in the trade and then we chrage a fee for our service which is the norm. The only difference the public has in dealing with 1stdibs is that A. either you would pay full price to the dealer/store itself, or B. take advantage of the trade discount 1stdibs offers you and pay their fee for the service. That's just the way it works...
I have had clients check the prices on items we found them here just to see what their pricing would be as civilians and it's just about the same.
Anyway...happy hunting. Good luck with any purchases! Heather on Dec 5, 2006
