Their online shop is a huge resource for of-the-moment designer fabrics, and they have a good children's department stocked with patterns like this Kokka Fabrics Happy Animals, $16/yard. (Their blog, the Purl Bee, is also a great resource for project ideas.)

Based in Minneapolis, this store has a very good website with a lot of Marimekko fabrics, from cotton to upholstery weight to wall hangings. This Marimekko Karkuteilla Green Fabric Repeat is a classic kid's design that goes for $60 per repeat.

Located in Georgia, this site is a well-known resource for discounted fabrics, including designer lines. Their youth and children's department has some very cute designs, like this Premier Prints Elephant Candy Pink/White for $7/yard.

This online shop has a lot of the trendy lines you'll see at places like Purl (Amy Butler, Kaffe Fasset, Joel Dewberry), as well as some lesser known designer fabrics. This Bliss Flannel by Valori Wells sells for $9.95/yard.

This discount fabric shop has prices starting as low as $1.95/yard. Their inventory tends to be more traditional and they've got some nice upholstery basics. This Kaufmann Groovy Floral Drapery Fabric in Cocoa sells for $6.95/yard.

This online megastore has a lot of brand names and popular designs, including Ikat upholstery, Amy Butler florals, and classic Waverly prints. This Amy Butler Paradise Garden Mint is currently listed for $13/yard.

A huge aggregator site for crafty sellers, Etsy has tons of fabric, including new and vintage designs. Liz Scott (who designed the fabrics in the main photo above) sells her work through the Wonderfluff Shop. (Shown left: Painted Flowers Quilting Weight Cotton Fabric, $8/yard.)

They have a ton of bright, Josef Frank-ish fabrics. Most lines are affordably priced 100 percent cotton, like this Frederika Fabric, which sells for $7/yard. Unfortunately, most fabrics aren't available online — you have to shop for them in-store.

Always a good place to look for deals, Jo-Ann has a nice e-commerce site and a ton of locations across the country. We found this Home Essentials Print-Blip Mint on sale for $5 (marked down from $10).

Based out of Chicago, this fabric store is a great resource for inexpensive fashion and home decor fabrics. This classic French Gingham is a heavyweight cotton that works for curtains or blankets, $13/yard.

Nursery Fabrics

Like the name implies, they specialize in fabrics for childrens' rooms. The selection is extensive, and they have a helpful section where fabrics are grouped into matching combinations. This Multi-Confetti Circle sells for $20/yard.
