Best High Chairs and Booster Seats

When you have a baby, a high chair or booster seat becomes a very visible part of your dining area, and a well-designed one can make all the difference. Safety and functionality are top priorities, but you don't have to sacrifice aesthetics for a good high chair. Here are a few of our current favorites.

High Chairs

• Monte Design : We discovered Toronto-based Monte Design when store owners Ralph and Michelle offered Apartment Therapy a glimpse inside their home, which is full of modern design for kids. The Tavo High Chair, $299, comes with a cushioned leather seat.
• Modern Kid Canada : Designed by Montreal-based Age Design (aka husband-and-wife duo Patrice Guillemin and Genevieve Grenier), this $300 chair transitions from a high chair into a chair for an older child. It covers ages six months to six years.
• Zac and Zoe : Based in New York, Zac and Zoe focuses on modern kids' furniture and sustainable products. The Anka High Chair ($180) is made from a wood frame with a phthalate and bisphenol-A free tray and PBDE-free cushion.
• My Precious Kid : This online store specializes in safe products for children. The $25 My Little Seat Portable High Chair is designed to be used when you don't have a regular high chair on hand. It straps to a standard chair back and keeps a baby sitting up straight for mealtime.
• IKEA : For a cheap, simple high chair, check IKEA. Their Antilop High Chair is just $25 and made Ohdeedoh's list of Top Ten High Chairs.
• Grow : Grow has a brick and mortar store in Chicago, as well as an extensive online inventory of modern high chairs. The Nano High Chair ($180) is good for small spaces, since it folds up when you're not using it.
• babygeared : This modern online retailer is a good resource for designer high chairs. The $375 Droog High Chair, by Maartje Steenkamp, is a simple form designed to be cut down as the child grows, transforming from a high chair into a kids' seat.

Booster Seats

• Spunky Sprout : This online retailer has a big selection of modern high chairs and booster seats, including the Musty Grow-Up ($59), a cute flexible seat that comes in 6 colors.
• Overstock.com : Overstock's kids' section is pretty comprehensive, and they have a lot of high chairs and boosters for reasonable prices. This plastic Keekaroo Cafe Booster is $60 and comes in 5 colors.
• Amazon.com : Like Overstock, Amazon also keeps a large rotating inventory of baby furniture. We like the Prince Lionheart BoosterPOD, a modern seat with safety straps for about $40.
